Automation specialist
Hybride
Location : Belgium
Experience : + 6 years
Languages : fluent English mandatory (C1) ; Dutch is a plus
Type of mission : full time – hybrid onsite+remote
Expected start date : ASAP
Duration: ASAP until 31/12/2026 (extensions possible)
AXA Group Operations is looking for a automation specialist to design, develop, and integrate automation solutions across the end-to-end patching lifecycle (pre-patching, patching, and post-patching) for Linux and Windows infrastructure in a global enterprise environment, progressively reducing manual intervention and increasing operational efficiency.
The automation service will operate within a global enterprise infrastructure spanning Linux and Windows server estates across on-premises, private, and public cloud environments. The patching process is partially automated, and this mission is focused on progressively closing the remaining manual gaps to achieve a fully automated end-to-end patching lifecycle. The service will operate largely independently, integrating new automation layers on top of existing frameworks, and will interface with the Security Control Manager, program stakeholders, and offshore partner teams. Balancing innovation with operational stability is critical within this context.
Scope of Services (but not limited to):
• Identify and assess manual touchpoints across the pre-patching, patching, and post-patching lifecycle, and define a prioritized automation roadmap
• Design and implement automated pre-patching workflows, integrating existing manual pre-check scripts (Python/PowerShell) into automated pipelines using Ansible and/or Puppet
• Develop automated remediation workflows for common failure scenarios occurring during the patching cycle; ensure automatic ServiceNow incident creation for non-automatable failures
• Identify and implement post-patching automation opportunities, ensuring seamless integration with existing automation layers
• Integrate change management processes into the automated patching pipeline via ServiceNow, ensuring compliance with ITIL change management requirements
• Support vulnerability management activities in tandem with existing automation tooling, contributing to faster remediation cycles
• Produce and maintain an automation roadmap with clear milestones, implementation timelines, and progress reporting for the Security Control Manager and program stakeholders
Service Deliverables (but not limited to) :
• A clear, maintained roadmap with timelines communicated to stakeholders; regular progress updates
• Reduction in manually executed pre-checks; successful integration with existing automation frameworks
• Reduction in manual interventions during patching cycles; incident creation accuracy and timeliness
• Measurable reduction in post-patching manual tasks over time
• Successful automated change record creation, approval workflows, and closure
• Contribution to vulnerability remediation timelines
• Roadmap kept up to date; stakeholder satisfaction with visibility and delivery
Required Expertise :
• Strong proficiency with Ansible and/or Puppet — design, development, and integration of new automation into existing frameworks
• Solid scripting capabilities in Python and PowerShell for automation of pre/post patching tasks
• Hands-on expertise with ServiceNow — particularly around change management and incident management automation and API integration
• Expertise with Linux (RHEL-based) and Windows Server environments in a global, large-scale enterprise infrastructure
• Familiarity with patch management concepts across both Linux and Windows ecosystems, including OS patching and limited third-party application patching
• Expertise working in hybrid environments: on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud (IaaS)
Service Qualifications
• Highly autonomous service: independently identify automation opportunities, design solutions, and drive implementation
• Analytical approach: assess complex manual processes and translate them into reliable, scalable automation
• Structured and delivery-focused contribution: build and maintain a clear roadmap and communicate progress to stakeholders
• Collaborative service: coordinate with internal teams and offshore partners for the implementation of automation solutions
• Adaptable and pragmatic service: integrate new automation into existing frameworks without disrupting operational stability
• Strong focus on quality and responsibility in a production patching context where changes carry operational risk
